Punch by punch - supporting our city...

The New Continental Hotel believes that it’s not enough to just be in a city, you have to support your city too. With this in mind, we were thrilled to support a great cause in April 2015; Plymouth Business men and women proved that together, they really could make a difference for the children’s bereavement charity; Jeremiah’s Journey.

After a 15 week programme, the night was upon them and on Saturday 25th April 2015, the 24 men and women in white-collar jobs took centre stage at Plymouth Pavilions.

Experts from two Plymouth boxing gyms, Dann’s and Hybrid MMA and Fitness Centre, had been turning the desk-jockeys into contenders. The contenders showed off their skills and new level of fitness in the ring on Saturday April 25 and whilst they sweated it out, onlookers looked glamorous whilst enjoying their three-course dinner.

New Continental Hotels leisure club; Club Continental were thrilled to have been able to support the evening with a raffle prize of 12 Months Membership worth over £300. Organisers believe that that they may have raised about £10,000, which will go a long way in enabling Jeremiah’s Journey to continue offering therapeutic support to children after someone special has died or when their mum or dad is terminally ill.

Leisure Club Manager, Adam Domyslawski says how important nights like these are: “Sport is the perfect tool to bring a community together to support things that really matter. For Club Continental, being able to make a difference through what we believe in, and help change lives and perceptions means that everyone can feel they are playing a part in making tomorrow better for everyone. These are a daring group of professionals, swapping their day jobs for a night in the ring, gloves off to them!”
